So, now that the Unite For Diabetes UN Resolution has passed, the unite for diabetes campaign has a number of worldwide initiatives to raise awareness about the first-ever official World Diabetes Day on 14 November 2007. Unfortunately, theses initiatives could be much more well-publicized.
For example, one initiative that I recently stumbled upon is the “Flying Circles” campaign. The concept seems like a great idea; get people up and moving while spreading awareness about diabetes and the blue circle. There are a select few blue circles with tracking numbers traveling the globe – but I think we could many, many more. Maybe even sell Frisbees with the “unite for diabetes” slogan on them? With ultimate Frisbee’s ultimate popularity here on the west coast, this could be a great way to reach people. First we need to get these things out there!!
