Okay, so after quite a long hiatus from the blogging world, I’ve decided to come back and redo the design and setup of the unite for youth project/concept. Now this is going to be a general information/network site about diabetes, chronic illness, and other health-related issues specifically focusing on youth and young adults (I use the term “youth” lightly, although my work with Novo Nordisk’s Changing Diabetes program is specifically focused towards those of us of the younger generation).
This site was initially set up as a place to share young people’s stories about having diabetes and their ways of showing support for the UN resolution on diabetes. But, now that the resolution has officially passed (as of 20 December 2007), the goal is to raise awareness among today’s youth about diabetes and other avoidable chronic health issues as well as garner enough support for the resolution that governments will actually begin to create effective diabetes legislation for the future.
Oh, and there will probably be some posts thrown in here and there about conservation, environmentalism and other pressing modern issues :).
So, welcome to “unite for youth” – all about health issues for youth (and the young at heart).
